TESOL Program

Are you an international student wishing to teach English in your home country? Are you a Canadian or a fluent speaker of English seeking work overseas or right here in Vancouver? Do you prefer to study at your own pace in the comfort of your home? Or perhaps you would like to teach children. Here at Western Town College, we understand that different students have different needs. We therefore offer four different teacher training programs, each suited to a different type of student. TESOL DIPLOMA PROGRAM FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS (ISP)

TESOL ISP (International Students Program) is a two month TESOL program. This course is open to students with a minimum 513 TOEFL score (CBT 183, iBT65), or a minimum TOEIC score of 700, or WTC Level 7. Students will learn contemporary methodology for teaching grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students have many opportunities to prepare lessons and practice teaching.

This program also includes:

  • An optional 4-week practicum at a local elementary school (subject to availability; cost additional)

TEACHING ENGLISH TO YOUNG CHILDREN DIPLOMA PROGRAM

Children have different needs than adult learners, and teachers of children need to learn a wide variety of techniques and activities to effectively meet this needs. This program provides you with the tools you need to teach grammar, reading, writing, listening, and speaking to young children.

This is a one-month intensive diploma program and is intended for international students. It makes an excellent companion course to international TESOL program.

This program also includes:

  • A one week, supervised practicum at a local elementary school (subject to availability) with observation and teaching practice
